Walking the line between something you want to knit for your girl and something she thinks is fashionable enough to wear is not always easy! Tiny Dancer, Jr is a top you will both love. She’ll love that she is as stylish as the older girls, and you’ll love the styling and proportions that make this design appropriate for a young girl or teen. It has lots of mindless social knitting (plenty of stockinette) with just enough “other stuff”(a bit of ribbing, decreases, increases, picking up stitches, kitchener stitch) to keep you awake.

This pattern is written with finished chest sizes of 24.7” (26”,28”, 30”, 32”) which correspond to girl’s sizes 6 (8, 10, 12, 14). It is intended to fit with approximately 1” of ease in the chest. Waist, hip, and a dozen other measurements are given in the schematic, so this is an easy pattern to modify if you tend to change the fit of patterns to better fit your favorite girl.

This pattern is written for young girls and teens who have more of a child’s shape than a mature woman’s. Written for the adventurous beginner (someone who knows the basics but isn’t afraid to learn a new technique or two), this pattern includes the following skills:
Knit
Purl
Knitting in the round
Kitchener Stitch
Increases (K2tog, Sytk)
Decreases (K2tog / P2tog)
Wrapping and Turning, then working in the wrapped stitches

Materials needed:
540 (615, 685, 750, 835) yds heavy fingering weight/light sport weight yarn. Sample was made from Madeline Tosh Sock Yarn 100% superwash merino (395 yds/114g skein)
US Size 3 (3.25mm) circular needle
Set of four double-pointed needles, US
Size 3 (3.25mm)
3 stitch markers
4 stitch holders (or waste yarn)
yarn needle

Gauge is 24 sts x 35 rows = 4” x 4” in stockinette stitch
