Ravelry and the internet community at large have provided me with a lot of amazing free patterns over the years, patterns that have allowed me to continue to learn and grow as a knitter. I want to give something back, so here is the Elliot newborn size free for anyone to knit. Larger sizes can be bought in my Ravelry shop. The newborn size is written as a three colour version – but you can easily customise it to one or two colours, if you prefer. Using up a tiny amount of yarn, it’s a perfect scrap yarn project too.

Elliot newborn is a cosy unisex baby cardigan that starts with a bias bottom worked in two pieces of garter stitch with eyelet rows for an entertaining construction. From the bottom piece you pick up stitches and work the rest from the bottom-up. Knitted in organic, soft, smooth and lovely hand-dyed merino, this will be a lovely treat for any baby (and for your fingers while you are knitting). This pattern has been tech edited and test knitted.
