This is a modification of Kate Davies’ Tir Chonaill pattern, published with her permission. You will also need to purchase a copy of the original Tír Chonaill pattern.

This baby wearing blanket is an extra layer to keep baby warm while in a carrier or sling. It joins to your coat with button loops & toggle buttons, attached on the wrong side of the knitting. The stranded colourwork creates additional insulation for your little one, and shows off your super knitting skills! The hood keeps any drafts away from the back of baby’s head, & is lined with super-soft laceweight yarn for extra warmth & next-to-skin softness.

Yarn requirements:
250 yards of aran weight main colour
180 yards of aran weight contrast colour
60 yards of soft lace weight as lining for the hood.

The main section and hood are worked separately. Each piece is knit in the round, cut and reinforced. The two pieces are then grafted together and finished off with an i-cord bind off. The buttons & button loops are fastened to the wrong side of the work to ensure maximum display of knitting skills.
