Toadstool Cushion
Here’s a fun(gi) addition to any chair … a knitted fairy toadstool from the enchanted wood. There is no tricky colour-work to do here as the spots, door and windows are knitted separately and sewn onto the finished cushion. This pattern incorporates a provisional cast on and Kitchener stitch grafting.
Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the cushion is knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round). The door frame and window frames are i-cord tubes worked on two DPNs.
NEEDLES
A pair each of 3.5mm single pointed knitting needles and DPNs (US 4)
RECOMMENDED YARN
Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; one 100g/280m skein in each colour.
NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, toy filling, stitch markers and a button for the door handle.
SIZES
One size only - 29cm wide x 47cm tall.
TECHNIQUES
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
