Toast in the Morning Coasters
These quirky coasters were designed as a simple, yet fun make for around the home.
They’re the kind of thing you can easily whip up as an unusual handmade gift for someone or to add a little whimsy to your own coffee table.
It’s a very beginner-friendly pattern, but as always I’ve included a photo guide / tutorial to help you visualise what you’re making and follow along.
You’ll be working your slices of bread / toast in rows that are turned at the end, but chains do not add to the total stitch count. You’ll then crochet the crust in a darker colour, working all the way around the outside of your slice.
The slice of bread / toast is worked with 2 strands of yarn held double, while the crust uses just the one. I therefore recommend working your stitches a little more loosely for the crust, and tighter for the main section of bread to reduce gaps.
The doubled-up yarn will increase the thickness of your coaster and so provide more effective heat insulation.
