Tropical Waves
Tropical waves is a vivid lace pattern of rainbow-colored waves with a contrasting ripple of stranded intarsia.
Techniques include intarsia, stranding and lace knitting with some k4tog decreases.
Knit on 3.25mm/US3 needles with three sets of Schoppel Wolle’s new Zauber Perlen Merino yarn
Colorways: Soprano, Mezzosoprano and Burano, each 100g/400m/437yds
This innovative yarn is designed so that the colorways link with each other via a “common thread”: for example, the shared pink of the Soprano and Mezzosoprano colorways allows you to transition neatly between the yellow/pink gradation of the former, and the pink/blue gradation of the latter.
The CC color distribution in the pattern differs slightly from the sample project: I recommend using more of the plain yellow, pink and blue as CC as the plain CC shades contrast more crisply with the marled MC shades.
Some yarn was left over, the total used was approximately 220g/880m/962yds
Dimensions: approximately 22ins/56cm wide by 65ins/165cm long
Gauge: approximately 30 sts and 24 rows = 4ins/10cm in lace pattern
The pattern is charted with notes about techniques & color distribution, instructions for using the chart, and a splicing phototutorial.
The chart is quite large, and is spread over two landscape pages.
