“THE MOTIF for these slippers was inspired by a tulip vase that Arne bought for his mother many years ago,” says Carlos Zachrison, one half of the Scandinavian design duo Arne & Carlos. “The flowers are knitted in, while the green leaves are embroidered on using duplicate stitch.” Arne & Carlos used Rauma Vamsegarn for their slippers, which is a non-superwash pure wool. Because this is hard to find in the UK (The Knitter has) suggested an alternative.

PATTERN NOTES Note that the finished sizing given is approximate, and will depend on the felting process. If the slippers are too big when you have finished felting, put them in your washing machine for another cycle, or hand-felt them a little more. If they are too small, you can wear them and stretch them out while they are still wet. The slippers are worked by alternating two strands of yarn on each stitch (even on rows where just one colour is used), so that the work is stranded on every row throughout.
