Two Color Crescent Shawl
This pattern can be purchased on the Knit Picks website, too.
This is a crescent shaped shawl that is made using a solid and a variegated yarn. The yarns are not cut, but carried up the side of the shawl. Each color is used for 2 rows, the solid color is done as a garter ridge to give a little extra pop of texture to the design.
The color combo possibilities are endless. Although I used a slow variegating yarn for my Main Color, I am sure that it would look great to do the opposite.
There are two versions in this pattern, one is a Leaf Version, the other is a Diamond version. They are both worked the same until you get to the edging.
The instructions include charts and written instructions.
Finished Size: Unblocked 46” wide by 15” deep, blocked 64” wide by 22” deep
I have made this shawl using two solid colors. I used a thicker yarn, Elsbeth Lavold Silky Wool, and bumped up the needle size to a 9 on these.
I am dying to make it using some worsted weight Jojoland Rhythm and a size 10 needle. So many possibilities with this shawl.
ERROR IN ORIGINAL: Row 3 of the Diamond version should be as follows: Row 3: K3, YO, K2 tog, YO, K3, YO, (SSK, K3, K2 tog, YO, K3, YO) across to last 5 sts, SSK, YO, K3: 275 sts. The last K3 in the parentheses was a K1 by mistake.
Row 7 of the Diamond version should be as follows:
Row 7: K3, YO, (K2 tog, YO) twice, K3, YO, SSK, YO, * SK2P, YO, K2 tog, YO, K3, YO, SSK, YO; repeat from * across to last 5 sts, SSK, YO, K3: 279 sts.
I have sent everyone who purchased this pattern the new copy.
