Until Dawn is a warm beanie to carry you into the crisp autumn months. It was designed with my husband in mind, and draws the name from a horror game we both enjoy—what better way to prepare for Halloween? It features a simple all-over cabled texture. The brim is folded, making the finished hat extra warm and wonderfully squishy. The pattern can easily be modified to fit your preferences. As written, the hat is intended to a relaxed fit but is not slouchy. Choosing a larger size or vertically adding an extra repeat of the pattern will create a slouchier hat.

The sample size shown is an Adult Small. John has a head circumference of 23” / 58.5 cm and is wearing the hat with 4.25” / 11 cm of negative ease. Aman has a head circumference of 21.5 “ / 54.5 cm and is wearing the hat with 2.75 “ / 7 cm of negative ease.

The cable pattern and crown decreases in this pattern are both written and charted.

Choose a size with approximately 2 to 5 inches / 5 to 12 cm of negative ease, depending on personal preference.

US 7 (3.5 mm) and US Size 8 (3.75 mm) 16” circular needle and dpns, or a 32-40” circular needle if using the magic loop method for small circumference knitting; or size needed to obtain gauge

Tapestry needle, waste yarn or stitch holders, 1 stitch marker (you may wish to use 3 (4, 5, 6, 7, 8) additional markers in a contrast color to keep track of pattern repeats.
