This is Stilly River Yarns’ featured crochet pattern for the 2021 Puget Sound Local Yarn Shop Tour! As is our tradition, this piece reflects one of the places we love in our community - Utsalady Point, on the northern tip of Camano Island. When Karen showed Lindsey the edging she was playing with while developing the pattern, Lindsey immediately thought of the tall evergreen trees that line the shore - as well as of the masts of the tall ships that used to moor off the point in the 19th century.

“Utsalady” is the anglicized word for the Lushootseed language’s name for the area: ʔəcəladiʔ ; Lushootseed is one of the Coast Salish languages.
