The first of two sweaters in the e-booklet Boys Will Be Boys, inspired by vintage sports sweaters for men, the V-Neck Cricket Sweater is available in boys’ sizes 2-10.

The gauge for this particular pattern was done in stockinette stitch, so you may notice that with the cable pattern that the fit is tighter, which was my intention. When in doubt, make the larger size if you’d like the sweater a little roomier.

You will need US 3 and US 4 straight needles, a set of 5 dpns in US 3 for the collar (a 16” circular may be used for larger sizes), 5 - 7 skeins in a main color and 1 - 2 skeins in a complimentary color.

The collar has a tendency to curl because it is done in stockinette stitch, but some light blocking will take care of that. I was able to make the sample’s collar lay flat by using a steam iron on its highest steam setting (do NOT press directly onto yarn).
