Varvara is a classic winter hat knit using a technique that combines alternating yarn colors and slipped stitch twists to create a beautiful textured fabric.

Recommended needles: US size 5 (3.75 mm) for ribbing; US size 7 (4.5 mm) needle for main body of hat
Notions: tapestry needle, stitch marker
Finished sizes: S (M, L) 16” (18”, 20”) at brim, un-stretched. While choosing a size, keep in mind that brim will stretch 1-2”. Sample show in M.
Gauge
For ribbing: Using US size 5 needles, 22 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches in k1, p1 ribbing stitch after blocking
For slipped stitch pattern (Rounds 1-14): Using US size 7 needles, 24.5 stitches and 34.5 rows = 4 inches in pattern after blocking
