Featuring handy vertical pockets and a choice of front fastenings (a tie belt or sewn-in zip), this loose-fitting jacket is a versatile layering piece to throw on when working in the garden. The cable and slip stitch pattern are reminiscent of planting rows in a garden vegetable patch.

The jacket is knitted flat in pieces. After 2x2 Rib edgings, the jacket is worked in simple 4-stitch cables and slipped stitches, with the front and pocket edgings in Garter Stitch. The V-neck edgings continue around the back neck. The integral pocket linings are worked in Stockinette Stitch. Finally, a knitted tie belt or sewn-in zip complete the garment.
