Wandering Waves Bandana Cowl: Elegance of a shawl + practicality of a cowl = your new fall season staple.

The Wandering Waves Bandana Cowl is an ideal choice for those captivated by the rustic allure of triangular shawls but desiring a more streamlined silhouette. This enchanting design beautifully combines the traditional triangular shape with the convenience of knitting in the round, creating a chic, fuss-free accessory that is as practical as it is stylish.

I created this pattern during my healing process from burnout and mental health struggles. Its simplicity brought me back to the joy of knitting, stitch by stitch. I’m releasing it for free as a simple celebration of renewed creativity and hope.

“Wandering Waves” is an apt name for it—the past five years have been a period of much wandering, but I am reminded of the words from J.R.R. Tolkien, “Not all those who wander are lost” - wanderings do not have to be in vain. I feel inspired to add to that with a well-known Māori whakatauki (proverb):

“Not all those who wander are lost; and I shall never be lost, for I am a seed sown from Rangiātea.”
