WASPs Cowl
Additional Hook: Size H (5.00 mm) Tunisian crochet hook
I thought I had just the right project to honor the WASPs (Women Airforce Service Pilots) of WWII, but then I kept looking at the lovely remainder balls of yarn from several of the book’s other projects, and knew I needed to honor these resourceful, talented women in a different way; thus, the WASPs Cowl was created.
This cowl is a primer on working Tunisian crochet stranded color work (3 colors). You’ll need approximately 200 yards of each of three different yarns of roughly equivalent weight, and an additional 50 - 60 yards of a final yarn for the edging that is just slightly heavier than that used for the main body. The cowl is worked flat, seamed, and then both edges are worked in the round.
A simple, yet elegant tribute. Stash bust and show your WASPs support!
