Wenlock Cowl
Featuring stranded colourwork knitted in the round, this cowl is inspired by stonework tracery at Wenlock Priory in Shropshire. The edges are finished with Latvian braids.

Yarn
Erika Knight Wild Wool, 85% wool, 15% nettle (viscose), (approx 170m/186yds per 100g):
1 skein 704 pootle (A)
1 skein 706 mooch (B)

B – 130m/142yd
Quantities may vary depending upon gauge and type of yarn used.
Needles and Notions
5mm/US 8 circular needle, 40cm/16in length (or size required to obtain gauge).
4.5mm/US 7 circular needle, 40cm/16in length, or one size smaller than gauge needle.
Stitch marker, tapestry needle for finishing, stainless steel pins for blocking.
Gauge
20 sts and 21 rnds to 10cm/4in, after wet blocking, across stranded colourwork. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain gauge.
Skills Required
The pattern uses stranded colourwork, although does not require the anchoring of long yarn floats at the back of the work. The edges are worked using a Latvian braid. Other techniques include an alternating two-colour cast-on and a suspended bind-off. Instructions are included within the pattern. Knowledge of single-colour long tail cast-on is assumed.
