This pattern makes a wide crescent shaped shawl that sits comfortably around the shoulders without the need for a shawl pin. The shawl in the picture has been knitted in a long colour change sock yarn and takes about 500 to 700m depending on how big you want to make the shawl, so you will need two balls of a sock yarn. However many of the new cake yarns would work just as well.

The shawl can be made bigger if knitted in DK weight yarn. It is fairly easy to adapt to make the shawl bigger by continuing to add new increase points. The shawl can also be knitted in two colours as shown in the black and silver version.
