Willings Alley Hat
When I finished my Willings Alley Shawl in the two-color version, I had leftover yarn and wanted to keep knitting the stripe and chevron pattern. So I designed a little hat.
The Willings Alley Hat is a great starting point for whatever odd bits of fingering weight yarn you have left over. It looks equally pretty using a solid and a gradient, just a gradient, two solid cols, or whatever strikes your fancy.
Bands of garter stitch alternated with bands of stockinette chevron to make up this one-size-fits-most-adults hat (there is a lot of stretch in the ribbing).
The finished circumference at the ribbing, unstretched, is 16”, and the height is 8”. Depending on how much yarn you have, you can certainly work additional repeats of the pattern to achieve a slouchy fit.
You will need approximately 100 yards of Color A (shown here in Maize Heather) and 70 yards of Color B (shown here in 1660 Flussbett).
A US size 4 (3.5mm) 16” circular needle (or size needed to obtain gauge) and a set of US size 4 (3.5mm) double pointed needles.
