Este cuello es el resultado de mi participación en el “Reto teje 3 palabras” organizado junto con los chicos de Merino Feroz. Puedes seguir los demás trabajos del reto con los hashtags #retoteje3palabras y #knit3wordschallenge, tanto en Youtube como en Instagram.

El reto consistía en diseñar un complemento inspirándose en tres palabras: 1) el Salar de Uyuni en Bolivia, 2) colores que saben a buen tiempo e 3) intensidad.

Willka es un cuello reversible. La cara A está inspirada en los tejidos característicos de las culturas originarias de Sudamérica, continente al que pertenece el Salar de Uyuni. En esta cara se pueden ver unos colores intensos que saben a buen tiempo. La cara B es blanca como la sal y tiene una serie de texturas con formas geométricas como las que se producen en la sal cuando el agua se evapora. Atravesando todo el salar hay otras formas geométricas parecidas a las de la cara A que representan al pueblo Aymara (propio de la zona del salar) atravesando el gran desierto de sal. En la lengua aymara, Willka significa Sol, el mejor exponente del buen tiempo.

Se teje en circular de abajo a arriba. Se comienza con un montaje provisional para hacer una basta doblada que se usa como borde. Después se teje la cara A y, al final de la misma, se vuelve a hacer una basta doblada (borde superior). A continuación, se teje la cara B y se termina uniendo las dos caras con una costura invisible o punto Kitchener. También es posible tejer sólo una de las dos caras (al final de cada cara encontrarás la explicación de cómo hacerlo).

HILADO

Puedes usar cualquier hilado de grosor fingering (aproximadamente 400 m en 100 g).

En la muestra se ha usado Encayarns (base 60% merino, 20% alpaca y 20% nylon) (400 m en 100 g).

• Color principal: Natural (aprox. 150 g/600 m)
• Color de contraste 1: Amarillo neón (aprox. 25 g/100 m)
• Color de contraste 2: Verde lima (aprox. 12 g/48 m)
• Color de contraste 3: Azul eléctrico (aprox. 14 g/56 m)
• Color de contraste 4: Morado neón (aprox. 20 g/80 m)
• Color de contraste 5: Fucsia neón (aprox. 18 g/72 m)

MATERIALES

• Agujas circulares de 3mm (o el grosor necesario para obtener la muestra de tensión) con cable de 40 cm.
• Marcadores.
• Aguja lanera.
• Tijeras.
• Agujas circulares de 3mm o menos para la costura Kitchener.
• Hilo de desecho del mismo grosor que el que vas a usar para tejer el cuello.

MEDIDAS FINALES

28 cm x 38 cm.

The challenge was to design an accessory inspired by three words: 1) place: Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, 2) color: colors that taste like good weather and 3) emotion: intensity.

Willka is a reversible cowl. Side A is inspired by the characteristic fabrics of the cultures of South America, the continent to which Salar de Uyuni belongs. On this side you can see intense colors that taste like good weather. Side B is white like salt and has a series of textured patterns and geometric shapes like those that occur in salt when the water evaporates. Across the entire salt flat there are other geometric shapes similar to those of side A that represent the village Aymara (a typical village of the salt area) crossing the great salt desert. In the Aymara language, Willka means Sun, the best exponent of good weather.

It is worked in the round bottom-up. Starting with a provisional cast-on to make a folded hem for the edge, you work side A and, at the end of this, another folded hem (top edge). Side B is then knitted and you end by joining the two sides with an invisible seam or Kitchener stitch. It is also possible to knit only one of the two sides (at the end of each side you will find an explanation of how to do this).

YARN
You can use any fingering weight yarn (approximately 400m in 100g).

MATERIALS

• Circular needles of 3mm (or size needed to get gauge) with a cable of 40cm.
• Stitch Markers.
• Tapestry Needle.
• Scissors.
• Circular needles of 3mm or less for the Kitchener stitch.
• Waste yarn of a similar weight to that used for the cowl.

FINAL MEASUREMENTS
28cm x 38cm.
