Wind Song Shawl & Cowl
Ideal for the discerning gift recipient, or just for yourself, the shawl and cowl are perfect accents for any wardrobe. And best when knit in very contrasting colors, such as the dark blue and white shown.
The shawl is worked from the bottom up, beginning with striping garter stitch, then short-rows are used to shape the lower edge while adding more stitches into work at the end of each row.
The bandana-style cowl is worked from the wide end to the point, decreasing stitches at the beginning of rows. Sand rib is worked at the beginning, and narrow bands are continued up the length of the piece.
Finished Measurements:
Shawl: 55 1/2” (141 cm) wide and 10” (25.5 cm) long at the center.
Cowl: 33 3/4” (85.5 cm) wide along the long edge and 15 1/4” (38.5 cm) long at the center.
Yarn needed:
Shawl, Color 1 (Deep): 266 yds (243 m), and Color 2 (Birch Grey): 187 yds (171 m)
Cowl, Color 1 (Deep): 43 yds (39 m), and Color 2 (Birch Grey): 230 yds (210 m)
Also needed, a large button or pin to fasten the cowl.
