This is a very simple shawl, excellent for beginner to intermediate crocheters and those new to pattern-reading. The stitch pattern is quickly memorized, so it’s a perfect “on-the-go” project, or something to work on while watching a movie. It’s worked from the center outward, so it can easily be made to any size or gauge.

The pink/brown/plum shawl (top pic) was made with 1 skein of Jill Draper’s Rifton, sadly now discontinued.

The grey sample shown was made using one hank of Jill Draper Makes Stuff’s Splendor Sock yarn, which is about 435 yards. The finished measurements are about 48” wide, and 24” long at center, a good size for a generous neck scarf or a mini shawl. If you continued with a second skein you’d have a nice medium-sized shawl. note: Splendor is now discontinued but 1 or 2 skeins of your favorite sock or fingering weight yarn will substitute perfectly!

The multicolored red/turquoise sample is made with Noro Kureyon Sock and came out about the same size. Any sock yarn should work well for this pattern, with one average skein yielding a mini-shawl and 2 creating a nice generous shawl.

I’ve made these in DK, worsted and even bulky weight yarns too and they all come out gorgeous! It’s a very versatile pattern.
