Wonky Freeform Spirals
by Lisa Doherty
This pattern will be available by April 1, 2025
This freeform-ish guide starts with a stitch-by-stitch for a wonky (irregularly shaped) spiral, then eases crocheters into improvising their own spirals with their own favorite stitches and ideas. Concepts for making the wonky spirals are easily applied to freeform crochet in general, making this a good intro to freeform for crocheters with some experience.
Finished wonky spirals can be used as appliques, modern doilies, coasters, components for freeform projects, and anything else you can think of.
The stitch-by-stitch calls for 2-5 colors of worsted weight yarns an F hook, but crocheters can easily make do with yarn from their stash in any weight with a hook appropriate for their yarns.
