This is a written crochet pattern for the “Worker & Queen Honey Bees”. Instructions are included that explain how to make two semi-realistic amigurumi insects - a small worker honey bee and a larger/longer queen honey bee wearing an (adorable!) crown.

The pattern is available in both US and UK terms. The PDF file is 21 pages long with detailed instructions and lots of photos. In addition to Ravelry, this pattern is also available on my Etsy store to purchase.

This pattern is suitable for crocheters that are already familiar with amigurumi and basic crochet stitches/techniques (e.g. MR, sc, hdc, dc, inc, dec, colour changing, crocheting pieces together, sewing pieces together, etc.). All pieces are worked in continuous rounds, except the wings and the crown which are worked in joined rounds.

Materials & Tools Required:
• Yarn in colours brown, yellow and white. All in (roughly) the same yarn weight category as each other.
• A crochet hook that matches your yarn weight.
• Safety eyes x2 per insect (optional- you can embroider eyes if you prefer)
• A small amount of black thread/yarn to embroider the bees’ mouths.
• Toy stuffing
• Scissors
• Tapestry/finishing needle
• Stitch marker (recommended)
• Pins to help with assembly/sewing (optional)

Using a 3mm hook and DK weight yarn my finished worker honey bee measured 11cm (4.25 inches) long, 10cm (4 inches) in wingspan and 4cm (1.5 inches) at its tallest/widest point. My finished queen honey bee measured 15.5cm (6 inches) long, 12cm (4.75 inches) in wingspan and 4.5cm (1.75 inches) at its tallest/widest point.
