The Worn Cardigan is a top-down, seamless design with a focus on sustainability and mindful making. It features a slightly oversized fit, providing a relaxed, comfortable silhouette with a positive ease of 15-30 cm.
The cardigan begins with Judy’s Magic Cast-On, creating a beginning of the button bands, which are worked flat for a structured and clean frame. The stitches for back and fronts are picked up separately, and shaped using short rows, ensuring well-fitted shoulders and neckline. The body is worked in a “P2, K1” ribbing pattern, adding stretch, texture, and visual interest.
Once the body is complete, stitches are picked up around the armholes for the sleeves, which are worked top-down in the round. Sleeve shaping is achieved through gradual increases, creating bell sleeves. The cuffs, hem, and button bands are finished with 1x1 ribbing and a Tubular bind-off, ensuring a polished and professional edge.
