ZigZaggyZ
This pattern was originally designed to do something special with a long gradient yarn. In this case, it was the red/green Crazy Zauberball.
On holiday in France, using souvenir yarn that needed something subtle and smooth, I came up with this pattern. It is simple but effective, the yarn does all the work.
While long gradient yarns used like this can be a bit frustrating when colours blend into each other, they are often surprising and very ‘more-ish’ when the yarn works its magic.
For an equally stunning, but safer result, combine a gradient with a solid, or use two contrasting yarns. In that case two 50 gram skeins are enough to make a large pair of socks.
Size:
ZigZaggyZ is written out for the equivalent of a 72 stitch stocking stitch sock, top down.
Notes for adaptation to larger and smaller sizes are included, without specific stitch counts for heel and toe.
Toe up:
This pattern is easily changed to toe up. Instructions for adapting the stitch pattern are included, but there are no specific toe or heel instructions.
Please contribute to the Ravelry font of knowledge database by adding yarn, needles, size modifications and other helpful information to your ZigZaggyZ project page.
Happy knitting!

FREE?
Ok, I did spend (a lot) of time creating, checking, and writing the actual pattern pages, so to put a monetary value to it, yes, AU$ 4.50 will get me a cup of coffee at Perth’s Kings Park cafe, or one of the other places I frequent with my knitting friends.
Thank You.
