Crochet: Fingerless Gloves
In the winter months I get really cold hands, especially when typing, knitting, or crocheting, so I am always on the lookout for things to keep my fingers and wrists warm. I find mitts less restrictive than gloves and I have quite a few pairs so that I can mix and match what I am wearing. I think mitts help keep aches and pains in my wrists at ...
Crochet: Purse / Handbag
When I am on a night out, I find large bags cumbersome, and I always worry about putting it down and forgetting about it. I tend to travel light and often just pop my bank cards, a couple of keys, my phone and maybe a lipstick into a bag before heading out. A small pouch is the perfect size for me, and I especially like cross body bags with lon...
Crochet: Bag - Other
I was so lucky to tutor an amazing textile workshop trip to Peru during the summer of 2024. It is a truly incredible country, and I adored it!
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
Jane used a repeating tessellating design in this shawl, known as an ‘Ogee’ pattern in Arabesque design. It took her a few weeks to get the design of the blocks right; initially she came up with loads of really complicated ways to create the motif but in the end it was so simple!
Crochet: Bag - Other
This project is a great stash buster, with very small amounts of yarn used. The Café au Lait version of the pouch uses 5 shades of organic cotton yarn, and the French Linen version uses 2 main shades and very small amounts of the remaining colours.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
The wrap was designed as the Advent project for Jimmy Beans in December 2021. The original design used 16 mini skeins of yarn, with a new one added to the design each day in the lead up to Christmas. The design is a great stash-buster if you have lots of little bits of left-over 4ply/fingering weight yarn or you could use a curated collection o...
Crochet: Decorative - Other
My amazing sister-in-law, Julie, adored bunting. Any excuse for a party and Julie would be there with a step ladder and loads of bunting to decorate the room! We lost Julie after a courageous battle with cancer, so I wanted to design something in her memory. A pretty, floral bunting that features yellow, her favourite colour, was the obvious ch...
Crochet: Pillow / Cushion
I love my garden and really enjoy watching how it changes throughout the year depending on the season. I would really like to have a more homely and functional mix of flowers and herbs in our outdoor space, typical of cottage gardens, which became popular in the 1870s as a reaction to more formal gardens. One of the positives of a garden of thi...
Crochet: Throw
The Indigo Dreams pattern was originally published in Inside Crochet magazine during 2021.
Crochet: Throw
The main hexagonal motif used in this project was originally designed to be part of my Frida’s Flowers blanket crochet along project in 2016, however I felt it wasn’t totally right for the design, so I made an alternative piece instead. Despite its omission from the project, I love the motif and so I named it ‘Diego’s Flowers’ after Frida Kahlo...
Crochet: Hanging Ornament
I love the way unpacking the decorations year after year and arranging them around the house brings back lots of lovely memories and good feelings.
Knitting: Pillow / Cushion
I designed this cushion cover for a workshop trip to the West of Ireland. As the focus of the trip was the knitting heritage of the Aran Islands, that sit at the mouth of Galway Bay, I chose to use traditional cable stitch designs and textural patterns. To give the cover a more contemporary twist, and because I adore a bit of bling, I also adde...
Crochet: Hanging Ornament
These brightly coloured beaded crochet decorations first appeared in Inside Crochet magazine, issue #130. They use small amounts of Stylecraft Naturals Bamboo + Cotton yarn, but you could use any left overs of DK weight yarn. The 16 page pattern includes step-by-step instructions (with images) for adding beads to your crochet. There are 4 decor...
Knitting: Pillow / Cushion
Jane designed this project for a workshop group who joined her on a Stitchtopia cruise around the UK and over to the Faroe Islands in 2018. She based the design on traditional Faroese stranded designs, where 2 shades of yarn are used in each round.
Knitting: Pillow / Cushion
This design was inspired by Jane’s trips to Norway. The cushion uses some traditional Scandinavian designs, such as lice stitch, which features on the back lower panel, alongside Jane’s own stranded footwork patterns and beaded rows.
Crochet: Scarf
This pattern was originally written for a blanket, but when Jane saw the beautiful range of shades available in Eden Cottage Milburn DK
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This pattern was originally published in Inside Crochet Magazine from August to November 2019.
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
This wrap design was initially inspired by an image of a printed cushion cover I found in a magazine, but having visited the Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace near Mysore in India a few years ago, I was inspired to look at the design again and link it into my Mysore Collection.
Crochet: Throw
This blanket design was initially inspired by an image of a printed cushion cover Jane found in a magazine, but having visited the Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace near Mysore in India earlier this year she was inspired to look at the design again and link it into her Mysore Collection.
Crochet: Scarf
Hollicars is a beaded scarf that Jane originally designed for her good friend Rachel Atkinson, using her lovely yarn brand Daughter of a Shepherd. The pattern first appeared in Rachel’s fabulous book Volume 1: Beginnings.
Crochet: Throw
This pattern is one of four designs inspired by Jane’s trips to the Green Hotel, Mysore, India. There are lots of places within the hotel and its surrounding grounds to sit and relax, but one of Jane’s favourite places is the coffee shop, which is situated towards the back of the building within a lovely atrium, which in turn features a terraco...
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
Within the City Palace complex in Jaipur there are four gate buildings that surround the inner courtyard, which leads to the Chandra Mahal - the main palace building within the complex. The four gates are adorned with themes that represent the four seasons and Hindu Gods. The Lotus Gate, which sits to the southern side of the courtyard, and is ...
Crochet: Throw
Designed by Jane Crowfoot in a collaboration with West Yorkshire Spinners. The blanket was inspired by Jane’s trips to The Green Hotel in Mysore, India, and in particular some decorative tiles on a Victorian washstand found within the hotel.
Crochet: Throw
Jane loves botanical drawings and recently purchased a fabulous book from Kew Gardens with the most wonderful illustrations. There is a page within the book that features sunflowers, hellebores and opium poppy seed heads and it made her think of the fields of sunflowers walked through on a lovely French holiday a few years ago.
Crochet: Throw
Jane loves looking at how shapes fit together and has wanted to create a tessellating circle design for some time. Circular motifs can be tricky to fit together and it is common to find the circular shape becomes slightly distorted when motifs are pieced together, so rather than create motifs that are square or octagonal, she has designed cross...
Crochet: Throw
The Delft crochet blanket was inspired by Jane’s love of blue and cream pottery. She was really pleased with the outcome of this design and loves the way the octagon motifs create the idea of tessellating decorated plates.
Crochet: Throw
Jane loves traditional Mexican textiles and she often looks at woven fabrics, embroidery and crewel work for design inspiration.
Crochet: Throw
The name of a repeated tesselating design, like the one Jane has used in this design, is called an ‘Ogee’ pattern in Arabesque design. It took Jane a few weeks to get the design of these blocks right; initially she came up with lots of really complicated ways to create this motif, but in the end it was so simple - funny how sometimes a design p...

The pattern includes two colourways of this gorgeous floral motif. Worked in Rowan Cotton Glace, it’s a great way to practice your crochet techniques.
Crochet: Cowl
A pleasure to design and simple to make, this crochet cowl has become a real favourite round here already - made using Rowan Kid Classic and alternate double crochet, this project grows quickly and has a soft luxurious feel - the beaded edge makes it perfect for evenings out whilst the mohair rich yarn gives it a lovely cosy feeling - suitable...
Crochet: Shawl / Wrap
Hexagonal crochet motifs made in two colour ways are joined to make this simple wrap - the bronze bead detail at the centre of each motif and the velvet ribbon tie at the front add a touch of glitz and glamour making it ideal for wearing on a smart evening out - the wrap uses 6 shades of Rowan Felted Tweed DK and is suitable for crocheters with...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
A JANIE CROW collection would not be complete without a knitted design - based on moroccan tiles and made from two repeated intarsia squares, this lovely wrap looks far more complicated than it is and is ideal for knitters wanting to learn or perfect their intarsia skills - made using rowan Cashsoft 4ply and 2 shades of beads this design will a...
Crochet: Collar
Peter Pan collars and bows are everywhere you look this autumn so I couldn’t resist designing this simple beaded crochet collar - the pattern uses just one ball of Rowan Siena 4ply and a single bag of beads so is perfect for anyone on a tight budget - we have got a bit carried away though and are currently working our way through making one in ...
Crochet: Cape
Perfect for adding a touch of feminine glamour to your party outfit, this lovely crochet caplet is made using just 2/3 balls of Rowan Siena 4ply - its a relatively easy pattern that could be made in the space of an evening - bang up to date, it’s right on trend and would make an ideal present especially as one size fits all!
Crochet: Applique / Embellishment
By popular demand we have decided to release the pattern for this brightly coloured crochet butterfly which you could use to decorate something else - such as a cushion cover for example - or perhaps you could use it as part of a free form project - the butterfly uses very little of each yarn colour so is a great project for using up odds and ...
Knitting: Pillow / Cushion
This is our favourite design at JANIE CROW - petal power is a large knitted floor cushion cover measuring approximately 65cm in diameter - the ‘flower’ design is achieved by working the intarsia technique alongside short row shaping - petal power uses 11 shades of Rowan cotton glace and is ideal for using up your odd balls and left over bits an...

Crochet: Pillow / Cushion
