Knitting: Gloves, Mittens
Based on stitches per inch, Mitten Mania/Gloves Galore will talk the newer knitter through the process of making their first pair of mittens, gloves or fingerless gloves.
Knitting: Mid-calf Socks
This Beginning Sock Workshop has been used for several years as a new sock knitter teaching tool. It walks the knitter through steps of making a sock using 2 circular needles. Any weight yarn and/or needle size can be used as the instructions are based on stitches per inch. This sock pattern can be used to make socks for any shoe size.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This hat is worked from the bottom up. Once the cuff is worked, ribbing is worked on smaller needles to insure a snug fit. Halfway through the ribbing, the hat is turned inside out.
Knitting: Cowl
A quick and easy cowl. The overall fabric is very cushy and soft. This cowl can easily be made larger by increasing the number of stitches in multiples of 2 and/or working more rows. Just make sure to bind off working the “Row Below” motif.

This is a toe up sock with a wedge heel. The pattern is written for narrow, medium, wide feet with the length being adjustable. There are both written instructions and charts for each of the sizes.

Quick knit on larger needles! One ball of sock yarn will make a scarf, 2 balls will make a shawl. 4 row pattern repeat is easy to memorize. Optional fringe.

Knitted in the round, this simple cowl starts out on US7 needles then goes to US6 needles for a closer fit around the neck. Instructions are written.

Cables and lace make up the motif for this close-fitting cowl. Three buttons make this one an easy cowl to wear. The bulky yarn makes for a quick knit.

Knitted in the round, this cowl may be worn with a single loop as a scarf or doubled around for a cowl. The instructions for the stitch motif are both written and charted. The stitch motif is easily memorized. This is a great project for someone venturing into charts.

Knitted flat, in one piece to armholes. The fronts and back are then worked separately. Three-needle bind off joins shoulder seams.
Knitting: Scarf
Moderately easy lace scarf. 12 row chart repeat is very easy to memorize. This scarf would make a great last minute holiday gift. Knits up quickly. Can be worn either blocked out to enhance the lace or unblocked to enhance the cabling.

Knitted in the round, this adorable sock yarn dress is truly fit for a Princess.  Twisted ruffle around the hem, little butterflies in the skirt, twisted ruffle trim around the front neckline and armhole openings.  Recommended using 2 skeins of patterned sock yarn, alternating skeins to prevent color pooling
Knitting: Messenger Bag
Create the seahorse motif using mosaic knitting. Knit the bag flat then attach a gusset at the sides. The flap is created by binding off stitches on either side for the last pattern repeat. Attach a handle and you’re ready to go.

This is a quick knit for the scarf. Makes for a great man’s scarf. Can use any aran to chunky weight yarn. Especially nice in Cascade Chunky Baby Alpaca (needs 2 skeins).

For a wider foot, go up a needle size. These are not so difficult, but do require a leap of faith.
Knitting: Slippers
Felted Scuff Slippers. Pattern has Child’s, Women’s and Men’s sizing guidelines. Mohair layered in between the felted wool gives the sole of these slippers extra padding and warmth. Use bits and pieces of fluffy or ribbon yarn as decoration around the instep of the slipper. Skill Level: Intermediate

Finished chest sizes 34 - 58”. This pattern is for the more adventuresome knitter. While the stitch motif is not difficult, the shaping requires some calcuating on the knitter’s part.

Cables Around Tam. Worked in DK weight yarn. Pattern sized for head circumference 17 - 23”. A wide cabled band flows into the rib pattern for the brim and crown. Hidden double decreases provide the shaping
