This sweater fits the smaller WellieWishers American Girl doll and others of the same size. It is a cardigan so it easy to put on the doll. The design will look great in any color and texture comes from basic knit and purl stitches. A bit of contrasting color can be added with the buttons. The model is Willa.
Knitting: Beanie, Toque
This pattern works best if yarn is one color or has very subtle color variations (vs most hand dyed yarns). There is a nice variety of texture within a few easy and interesting knitting techniques. A double thick ribbing provides extra warmth. It is knit in fingering weight yarn for those who like to knit with smaller needles.

Charts are included in color and directions for creating the detail at the top of the ribbing. Other materials include five 1/2” buttons for the sweater and four for the skirt. Skirts are seamless and each needs 12” of 1/2” non-roll elastic for waistband.

Three or four toggle style buttons are needed. The yarn for the button and buttonhole loops is cast on and then the next row is simply bound off. Then loops are then attached to the coat.

The Argyle pattern has been popular on and off over the years and is a classic pattern. Working with three colors can be a bit difficult but the results are worth it and the piece is small. The back can be in the pattern or plain. A photo in color is included in the pattern.

This is one of my most popular patterns. The pattern includes the shrug with one 5/8” button and the beret. The beret is knit in the round on double point needles. A short I-cord finishes the top of the beret.

This sweater is shown with the front and back in two styles, either as a “plaid” or stripe with self striping yarn. It is much easier and faster to make than making a stripe or plaid in Fair Isle.

This poncho and skirt has been popular and fun. The skirt is knit in the round and is seamless. A 12” piece of non-roll elastic is used to make the waist fit.

This hat is extremely warm and comfortable because the ribbing is doubled. There are directions for optional ways to attach the ribbing so it stays neatly in place. This fun hat, knit on straight needles and seamed, leave tails every other row that are braided at the end. It can be knit in one color or stripes which could be from your stash. The pattern includes a suggested stripe sequence. It is very easy to knit and the seed stitch ribbing is knit in each row.

These hats are knit sideways in either one color or as many as you would like. The tails are made at one end of each row and after seam is complete, the tails are braided using 9 strands per braid.

The double mittens begin with Judy’s Magic Cast On and the inside mitten. They are incredibly warm and can be very soft depending on your choice of yarn. They are best in contrasting colors but could be in any color combination. The amount of yarn is equal for the inside and outside mitten.

This pattern was inspired by a sweater Abigail Breslin wore at the end of a movie about the American Girl, her family, and friends. She was dressed up for Thanksgiving dinner in the movie but this sweater could be worn any time.

The body of this dress is knit in US 5 sixteen-inch circular needles with US 3 needles for the collar and US 2 needles for the flower, leaf, and stem. The back has four 1/2” buttons.
