This cute blanket was designed for my niece, who was born in May. She is indeed a Darling Bud, which is a reference I have borrowed from Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18, by way of H.E. Bates’ 1958 novel ‘The Darling Buds of May’, televised during my childhood, and filmed very close to where I was growing up.

The companion to Wilderness Flower Mitts, this is a compact, structural cowl which you can pull up over your mouth if it’s really chilly, squish down under your chin if you want, or wear it with the bottom or the top turned over.

I just love Araucania Botany Lace: I love the solid colours, I love the weight and I love the fullness of the still lightweight yarn. It crochets well, and is just lovely to wear on chilly days.

This wonderfully light and fluffy kerchief, or neck-warmer, is perfect for chasing the winter blues away, especially when worked in this soft, un-dyed alpaca.

This is a very simple design, so much so that you will barely need the pattern.

This snowflake pattern uses British crochet terminology.

I recommend lovely full double knit in pure wool for these hand warmers, but they are also a great way to use up whatever scraps are in your stash.
