Knitting: Poncho
Easy and comfortable, this poncho starts with raglan shaping after a turtle neckline, and then continues in gentle A-line shaping. The name comes from the fact that we live at the edge of Hamilton mountain, and close to Ridgeline Road.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
This pi shawl relies on the beautiful math by Elizabeth Zimmerman to create a lacy piece that lays lightly on the shoulders and can be worked with a variety of yardages. The intent behind this particular design was to take advantage of our subtle gradients; long, slow, subtle colour changes that would not be adversely impacted by the dramatic i...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Abraçada (pronounced ah-brah-SAH-dhah) is the Catalan word for “hug,” and that’s exactly what this shawl feels like to me. Warm, textured, and wonderfully relaxing to knit, it’s an easy piece to wear and style, and totally unisex! Tito loves his :)
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Berry Vanilla is a richly textured crescent shawl, cast on at the middle and worked outwards in rapidly increasing rows to create a generously sized shawl that is easy and versatile to wear. The ruffled border adds a feminine touch at the end without being overly fussy. Don’t be scared off by those cables, they are very easy and intuitive to wo...
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Emy is such a lovely, easy pattern that when I released the new Wooly Mammoth skeins I knew a sideways version, a true knit until you run out pattern, would be just the ticket for getting the most out of these massive skeins :)
Knitting: Cardigan
For The Blue Brick gradient sweater kits, the kit sizes required are listed in parentheses in sizes available:
Knitting: Pullover
Eventide is both my first ever sweater pattern, and the first pattern written specifically for our gradient sweater sets. Worked from the top down seamlessly in the round, this sweater is super easy with raglan sleeves and no waist shaping. A little lace at the neckline and cuffs adds a whimsical touch.
Knitting: Cowl
The Autumnal cowl is written to be worked until you run out, to maximize your gradient. There is lace on every row, but it’s the easiest lace, and the results are so striking! Shown here in our sparkle cashmere base using Autumnal, the drape of the cowl is fabulous and soft against your neck. You may also use any of our fingering weights, inclu...
Knitting: Headband
Super easy, and fast, this cute little stash buster can be worked up over an evening! Great for leftover bits of luxury yarns :)
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Heavy Metal is a relaxing knit once you get going; welted fabric that alternates between Stockinette and Reverse Stockinette is given structure by the slipped stitches that result in a 3D texture. The ability to work until you run out of yarn makes this a great choice for gradient yarns and easy to adjust to your yardage.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
An asymmetrical triangle with a few pretty details; a slipped stitch edging, 2-row lace, and the ability to knit until you’re almost completely out of yarn. Worked in any of our standard skeins (Husky, Wooly Mammoth or Beast Mode), Cicada is a fun and relaxing way to max out a gradient skein.
Knitting: Shawl / Wrap
Emy is named for my sister-in-law, who I met and immediately fell in love with on our last trip to see our family, in Winnipeg. I needed something interesting but not too challenging for the flight, something that changed just often enough to stay engaging but was also easily memorized and would allow me to use up every last inch of my gradient.
Knitting: Cowl
Some years ago I designed the Escarpment Cowl, it was knitted in one skein of Escarpment DK, and was begun as a top-down triangular shawl; you worked until it was long enough to join in the round, and then continued working until bind off.
