I’ve wanted to show you this handsome edging for some time! It will demand your attention, though, with lots of single and double yarn overs, k2togs and k3togs. This is not a good tv-watching pattern.
This reversible 1892 Butterick edging pattern has 2 set-up rows and 32 repeating rows. 20 stitches are cast on to begin. All the odd rows are “fancy” rows. All the even rows are very simple: see the Shortcut note in the pattern.
Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, YO, YO twice, k2tog, k3tog and bind off.
Feel free to substitute any double decrease you’re comfortable with. I left the original K3tog decrease in the instructions but, in my swatches, I used SK2P for my own comfort in this pattern.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
57 yards of Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 crochet thread will make 10 inches of this edging at gauge.
