This 1871 pattern is from Mrs. George (Anne Jane) Cupples, published in Edinburgh. There are 28 rows. All wrong-side rows are “purl across”. The pattern has a multiple of 14 stitches. The 4 optional edge stitches in my swatch aren’t included in the instructions to avoid nested parentheses. Feel free to add any number of edge stitches, if preferred.

Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, YO, k2tog, SK2P and bind off.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
