Since the Special Topics in Design is about intarsia, I decided to do another child’s design featuring a red maple leaf on the chest. The construction is very simple. When I design for babies and children, I try to remember that a sweater will have a longer life if the body and the sleeves are longer. The sleeves on this design are proportionately longer, but the cuffs are narrow to compensate for the length. If you are taking the time to make an intarsia design for a baby or child, you want it to fit for quite some time!
