I overestimated how much yardage was required for the skirt in this issue, so I decided to design a matching top. The top is worked in one piece to the armholes. The cable pattern at the top of the skirt is repeated once as a border for the top. The body pattern is a K2P4 ribbing and provides a subtle shaping for the waist area. The short sleeves are worked by top-down short rows. The back is laced with ribbon.

Bands that don’t match the body pattern really bother me, so I have worked horizontal chain stitches at the neck and at the back opening to separate the K1P1 bands from the body pattern. This is optional as this technique and the sleeve construction changes the Skill Level from Basic to Intermediate.
