Bekka Raglan Coat
Big and bold, this coat is sure to keep you warm this fall. Fun
in bold colors, it’s just as comfortable in neutrals. The body and
sleeves are worked separately for this coat to eliminate a huge
bulky lapful while working the yoke.
Work the body in one piece from the bottom up, begin with seed
rib and continue the seed rib along the front edges as you work,
and stockinette over the rest of the body. Divide the body at the
armholes, and complete the fronts and back separately.
Work the sleeves in the round, beginning with seed rib, then continue
with the rib/travelling stitch rib to the top of the sleeve. After binding
off for the beginning of the armhole, work back and forth and shape
the raglan as you work.
The collar is added after sewing in the sleeves, working it in seed
rib to match the body. For extra body to the collar, work to twice
the finished length and fold the collar to the wrong side and sew
down to the inside. Finish off the coat with some big buttons.
