Bitty Berry Bobbles
A Butterick Victorian sock cuff inspired my version of a field of small 3-stitch bobbles. The cotton yarn I chose made very 3D bobbles; other yarns might make subtler bobbles. The pattern is a multiple of 6 stitches + 5 edge stitches. The edge stitches at the end of the right side rows prevents distortion near the fabric’s edge. There’s a 12 row repeat; all wrong-side rows are “purl across”.
I made the bobbles reverse stockinette to make them look more like berries (and because my bobbles are never as uniform as I’d like!).
Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, YO, k2tog, bobble and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
53 yards of Lion Brand 24/7 yarn will make 10 inches of a 35-stitch-wide strip at gauge.
