From 1892 Butterick’s The Art of Knitting, p.24, no. 1, this border/edging makes a great scarf pattern in larger needles and yarn! This scarf is so easy that after finishing one point, you might not need the instructions any more! My only change was to slip the first stitch of every row for a tidier edge. Half the rows are “knit to end” after the slip stitch.
The scarf is 8 inches at its widest at gauge. The points can be blocked into scallops, if preferred.

Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, YO, k2tog, PSSO and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

310 yards (2 skeins) of Katia Concept’s Cotton-Merino Tweed yarn will make 10 scarf points at gauge. Your yardage will depend on your gauge and on how long you want your scarf.
