This pattern is from 1892 Butterick’s The Art of Knitting, p. 13. It’s a multiple of 3 stitches + 2 extra. Add selvage stitches, if needed. There are only 2 pattern rows, making this very easy. I changed one thing: I substituted SSK for k2tog. The SSK looks tidier than k2tog in this pattern.
I can envision a narrow column of this lace in between columns of other stitch patterns as an accent.

Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, YO, SSK, p2tog and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

65 yards of Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 crochet cotton will make 10 inches of a 29-stitch-wide strip at gauge.
