This knitted edging pattern is from 1892 Butterick’s The Art of Knitting, p. 41, no. 46. There are 12 pattern rows. The stitch count varies from 7 to 15 and back to 7 for the next repeat. The very lacy look comes from double yarn overs with a one triple yarn over on row 9. There is no wrong side due to the pattern having almost all knit stitches.
The edging is 1.75 inches wide at gauge.

Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, YO, YO twice, YO 3 times, k2tog and bind off.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

14 yards of Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 thread will make 10 inches of this edging at gauge.
