Community Mittens
Community mittens are knit in round from the cuff up, incorporating a stranded colorwork pattern for warmth and visual interest. They are designed to provide a snug yet comfortable fit, making them ideal for everyday wear in cold weather.
The mittens begin with a stretchy 2x2 ribbed cuff, ensuring a secure fit around the wrist. After the ribbing, the colorwork section is worked in the round using stranded knitting techniques. The thumbhole is created using waste yarn, which is later removed to pick up stitches for the thumb.
Once the body of the mitten is complete, decreases shape the top, finishing with grafting for a seamless closure. The thumb is picked up and knit in the round, shaped with a simple decrease for a smooth finish.
