Dappled Moonlight
If you add 4 of my designs to your cart, the least expensive one will be free ~ enjoy!
Dappled Moonlight is a reversible shawl that begins with just two stitches, then gradually grows into a right triangle. It is a pleasure to knit, combining garter stitch with an assortment of simple eyelet and mesh stitches.
The pattern calls for fingering-weight yarn, but you can easily substitute sport or lace-weight yarn. If you would like a larger shawl, instructions for increasing the size of the final lace border are included. The eyelet stitches look beautiful in so many types of yarns: choose from solid, semi-solid, gently variegated, speckled, mohair and gradient yarns to create your favorite look.
Instructions are fully written, with an optional chart.
For a wrap/scarf version of this design, see Dappled Sunlight.
Blocked Measurements
Wingspan: 72”/183 cm
Depth: 30”/76 cm
Instructions for increasing the shawl size are included. Please note that this change will increase the amount of yarn required.
Gauge
18 stitches and 27 rows = 4”/10 cm in garter stitch using US 6/4 mm needle.
Gauge is not critical, but yardage requirements and finished measurements will vary if your gauge differs.
Yarn
Approximately 765 yds/700 m fingering-weight yarn; shown in Baah La Jolla, in the Glacier colorway.
Tools
- US 6/4 mm circular needle (or size necessary to achieve gauge), preferably at least 24”/60 cm long
