Dotted Diamond Scarf
I converted this 1902 Butterick reversible pattern from an insertion to a scarf by adding borders and using bigger yarn and needles. I also corrected a couple of errors in the original pattern. Many insertion and edging patterns can be converted to scarves just by using bigger needles and yarn.
If you’d like to knit the original insertion pattern, just omit the scarf borders: they’re separated from the body of the scarf in my instructions.
Scarf is 7.5” wide after blocking but gauge is up to you. Also, make the scarf as long as you’d like.
Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, YO, YO twice, k2tog, k3tog and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
77 yards of Wool of the Andes Sport Weight yarn will make 10 inches of this scarf at gauge.
