Here’s one of those designs that looks simple but hides a few cunning secrets in the construction. There’s no obvious cast on – and if you choose a colour-changing yarn it highlights the edging beautifully!

The scarf is knitted sideways, starting with a provisional cast-on. Short rows are used to form the shape - wider in the middle, tapering towards the ends. The gently scalloped edging also features short rows and eyelets.

You will need 100gr of 4ply yarn which is knitted on 4mm needles. Gauge is unimportant for this pattern. Colour changing yarns look particularly effective.
