Pattern available in English and Italian.

“Estate” (which means “summer” in Italian) is an asymmetrical shawl with an unusual shape of an isosceles triangle.
It is knit in lace pattern and in stockinette stitch stripes in a play of three colours.
The shawl is finished with I-cord borders for a tailored look.
You start knitting from the narrow tip of the shawl, so it can be made as long or as short as you want, depending on how much yarn you have!

Finished measurements:
200 cm – 78 ¾ in along the longer side and 125 cm – 49 ¼ in along the shorter side (after blocking).

Yarn and needles:
DMC Natura Just Cotton (Fingering weight yarn: 100% Cotton; 155 m – 170 yds / 50 g – 1.76 oz. ball):
First colour (C1): N555 (hèmoglobine); 3 balls (385 m – 4222 yds);
Second colour (C2): N112 (electric blue); 3 balls (350 m – 383 yds);
Third colour (C3): N199 (ètamine); 2 balls (310 m – 340 yds).
Needles 4.5 mm – US 7.
If necessary, please adjust needle size to obtain the specified gauge.
Tapestry needle and scissors.
Pins and a tape measure for blocking.

Gauge:
16 sts and 26 rows = 10 cm – 4 in in stockinette stitch (after blocking).
In fact the gauge is not very important in this pattern. Since the knitting starts from the narrow end of the shawl, it is easy to adjust the length based on how much yarn you have.
Instead, final blocking is important: the shawl must be blocked to reach the desired length and to allow the eyelets to “open up”!

“Estate” è uno scialle asimmetrico dalla forma inconsueta a triangolo isoscele allungato.
È lavorato a maglia rasata e con un punto pizzo molto semplice, giocando con tre colori.
È rifinito con un bordo I-cord che dona un aspetto più curato allo scialle.
Si incomincia a lavorare da una punta, per cui sarà possibile realizzarlo in varie misure, a seconda della disponibilità di filato che si possiede!

Dimensioni finite:
200 cm lungo il lato più lungo e 125 cm lungo il lato più corto (dopo il bloccaggio).

Filato e ferri:
DMC Natura Just Cotton (100% cotone; 155 m per gomitolo da 50 g):
Primo colore (C1): N555 (hèmoglobine rosso); 3 gomitoli (385 m);
Secondo colore (C2): N112 (electric blue blu elettrico); 3 gomitoli (350 m);
Terzo colore (C3): N199 (ètamine giallo); 2 gomitoli (310 m).
Ferri numero 4.5 mm. Se necessario modificare il numero dei ferri per ottenere il campione corretto.

Spilli e metro da sarta per il bloccaggio.

Campione:
16 m x 26 f = 10 cm lavorati a maglia rasata (dopo il bloccaggio).
In realtà il campione non è molto importante perché, incominciando dal vertice più stretto, è possibile regolare in modo molto semplice la lunghezza dello scialle a seconda di quanto filato si possiede. È essenziale, invece, la fase finale del bloccaggio per permettere allo scialle di allungarsi fino alla sua misura finale e per permettere al pizzo di “aprirsi”!
