A soft cocooning shawl or giant scarf with an airy texture and feathery fans of color. The shape is an irregular parallelogram which sits comfortably on the shoulders and is fun to drape and style - you can play with the arrangements of curves, chevrons and colors.

Please note that this pattern assumes you are familiar with the brioche knitting technique!

Knit on 5mm/US8 needles, with approximately 200g/800m/974yds of Aade Long Artistic Fingering Weight yarn in the Rainbow colorway and approximately 200g/800m/974yds of assorted contrast shades of similar weight. My CC yarns included Jamiesons of Shetland Spindrift, Schoppelwolle Seniorita and Admiral Hanf, CaMaRose Økologisk Hverdagsuld and Yaku, and some leftovers of silk and wool mixes.
The pattern can also be knit in more muted natural colors.

Dimensions: an irregular parallelogram approximately 63in/160cm long by 21.5in/54cm wide.
The sample shawl was left unblocked with a slightly puckered and uneven surface. If you prefer, the shawl can be blocked flat, with straight long sides and short sides pinned into curves.
Gauge: approximately 12 stitches and 18 rows = 4 inches/10cm in plain brioche knitting unblocked.

The pdf includes a chart, notes, instructions, photos and a splicing phototutorial. This is a charted pattern with some notes on brioche techniques. For clarity and ease of use, the chart shows patterned rows only and does not use standardized Brioche symbols and notation. Stitches include quadruple increases, and left and right-leaning decreases.
