’ve loved this stitch pattern since I discovered it in an old stitch dictionary when I was working on Level 3 of the Masters Program. (Yes, I used it for my slip-stitch swatch.) I decided to pair it with a yarn I’ve been anxious to try ever since I felt it. Laurel Wadley used it for her Drunken Snake. The scarf was yummy, perfect for wrapping around a neck. I decided to use it for a cowl. I’m a fan of the Flying Solo cowl from Espace Tricot  with two openings at the side so the cowl doesn’t bunch around the neck. I worked up a sample, but with the stitch pattern and weight of the yarn, it looked a bit like chain mail a knight would wear for a joust. I decided on only one opening and making it wider at the bottom, which is worked flat. The top is worked in the round. Stitches are decreased on both sides so that the cowl can drape across the upper chest and back.

The luscious yarn? Redfish Dyeworks, of course.
