Green Leaf Shawlette
Here’s another shawl pattern that uses only one hank of yarn, and is based on an old-time lace pattern. It’s prefect for keeping the chill off you neck in air conditioned spaces, or on cool evenings, or for just adding a bit of interest to an otherwise plain sweater or dress.
This piece can easily be made larger by repeating the 12 rows of the main pattern additional times. Just make sure that before beginning the border pattern, you have a multiple of 5 sts plus 3.
Gauge doesn’t really matter with this pattern, but you should use a fingering weight yarn and needles a bit bigger than recommended for the yarn so you can get a nice open fabric once blocked.
Since making this shawlette, Araucania Itata Multy has been discontinued. Suitable yarns to substitute would be a blend of wool and silk or bamboo, or one that has a nice drape. Examples are Knit Circus Parasol, Hand Maiden Silk Twist and Zitron Hanf Natur.
