Hairst is the Shetland dialect word for autumn. These socks are made for the average sized adult female foot. It’s a playful Fair Isle take on the traditional Norwegian Selbu patterns. It is worked toe up with Judy’s Magic Cast-On and a short-row heel, and features an Eye of Partridge structure at the toe and heel for extra strength. The tubular cast-off gives the sock a neat finish.

The instructions are written for circular needles. If you want to use DPNs, the instructions for the top of the foot cover needles 1 and 2, while the instructions for the sole of the foot cover needles 3 and 4.

These socks are knitted in Uradale JW (jumper weight/fingering/4ply) yarn:
Moorit (50g)
Selfheal Heath (25g)
Sundew Heath (25g)
Roanberry Heath (25g)
Tormentil Heath (25g)

Needles:
3mm and 3.5mm circular needles or DPNs.

Size:
Fits a foot of ca UK 5 / EU 38 / US 7
Size can be adjusted by using larger or smaller needles.

Kit is available from Uradale Yarns for 28.00 GBP. A combined his&hers kit is also available at a reduced price.
