Overlay Mosaic Crochet blanket

Inspired by the Norfolk countryside, Harmony Farm was designed as a 6-part CAL, worked using overlay mosaic crochet, and finished off with a pretty envelope border to hide the loose ends.

The CAL finished on 19th June 2026, so I have now combined all of the separate parts into a single complete pattern file (English and Dutch versions).

PLEASE NOTE: to give CAL participants time to download any of the separate parts they maybe missing, I will not be removing all of the various files for the individual parts until Saturday, 27th June, but if you are purchasing the pattern now, you can ignore everything after the bonus files.
________________________________________________________________

The pattern includes clear, marked charts and full written instructions, and there are lots of supporting photos.

If you are unfamiliar with mosaic crochet, or the envelope border, don’t worry, they are much easier to do than they look, and step by step instructions are given.
You will only be using 1 colour for each row.

The design mainly uses the basic mosaic crochet stitches (US sc in BLO and dc in FLO), but I have also included a couple of special stitches to make selected parts a little more prominent (the eggs and the buttons on the Scarecrow’s jacket) … don’t worry though, these are explained in the pattern, and links to video tutorials are also included.

Videos are provided for the gauge swatch, the special stitches used in Parts 4 and 5, and the border, and can be obtained from my YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/RosinaCrochets

There are three ‘official’ colourways: Arable and Dairy use Stylecraft Special DK yarn; and Organic uses Stylecraft Aran with Wool and Highland Heathers Aran.

The pattern is written for a single size (approximately 88 x 136 cm for Arable and Dairy / 105 x 165 cm for Organic), and yarn packs may be available from some Stylecraft stockists for these sizes.

The pattern also includes additional information to enable you to easily make a different size (just start with a multiple of 48 + 6 chains).
You can also adjust the length of your project by repeating your favourite parts, or skipping others.

The 48-stitch repeat also makes Harmony Farm easy to combine with many of my other mosaic crochet designs, including Fairy Dust, Flora’s Fauna, Letitia’s Garden, Spring Into Easter, Waterside and Beside the Seaside.

For those of you wanting to make a larger blanket, Caroline Tigchelaar and Lynn Leonard made larger versions using Yarnsmiths Create DK. They both incorporated the gauge swatch and the carrots from March Hare, and Lynn also added sections from Lakenham Mosaic Sampler and Beside The Seaside.
Yarn packs for these are available from Wool Warehouse, and instructions are included in a bonus file.
Please note to make the combo blankets you will also need to have purchased the above mentioned patterns separately.

There is a further bonus file which splits the various patterns for those of you wishing to make 2 smaller baby blankets.

Lefthander-friendly
For all non-symmetrical parts I have provided either an additional chart or additional written instructions for lefthanders.
There are also lefthanded versions of all videos.

To simplify the abbreviations, and avoid the need for separate UK and US versions, the pattern is written in my ’Universal’ terms (I developed these terms for the Jacquard Temperature Blanket and have also used them in all my subsequent overlay mosaic crochet CALs and patterns).

Dutch translations are also provided, courtesy of my dear friend, Caroline Tigchelaar.
