Whether you are looking for Valentine gift ideas, or you just want to treat yourself with a sweet project, these earrings are super fun to make! These little hearts are a great introduction to crocheting with a tiny hook since it’s such a quick make. And with a little bit of metallic paint, and some gold findings, you can elevate these crocheted heart-shaped earrings to bling status! Be sure to watch the video tutorial to see how it’s done.

Finished Measurements
Finished heart measures approximately 1.25-1.75” 3.25-4.5cm wide. Size is dependent on yarn/thread weight and resulting gauge. See yarn information below for more details.

Materials
• Approximately 20 yds 19m fingering weight yarn (CYCA#1), size 3 crochet thread, sock yarn, or perle cotton all work well for this (any fiber content is fine, although wool will soak up more of the paint)
• US B/1 2.25mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain a firm enough fabric that the stuffing will not show through
• 2 small stitch markers, one of them in a contrasting color or shape.
• Small amount of fiberfill stuffing
• Small Yarn Needle for weaving in ends (alternatively you can use an embroidery needle if yarn is thin enough to fit through eye of needle)
• Metallic gold paint and paintbrush. I used Folk Art Treasure Gold.
• 4 quilter’s pins (used to keep heart suspended in the air from top edge of a cup while drying)
• Plastic cup, or glass jar to use when painting heart
• 2 gold fishhook style earring findings. I used something similar to these.
• Two pieces of gold chain, approximately 5.5” 14cm long each. This chain should be thin enough that it can slip between stitches in the sides of the heart, but the links need to be large enough to be connected to the fishhook with a jump ring. I clipped one of the necklaces from this 3-pack into smaller pieces for two sets of earrings (and I was able to use two of the jump rings from that necklace for one pair of earrings). • 2 small gold jump rings- used to attach ends of chain to fishhook earrings (make sure the jump ring will fit through link in chain). See above note. Round jump rings can be found here at Michael’s, or you can use oval jump rings like I did in my samples, which can be found here at JOANN.
